Randy Gregg is an Edmonton success story. As a student at Ross Sheppard High School, he participated in his favorite sports of baseball and hockey in the Edmonton Community League system. He enrolled at the University of Alberta in 1972 but did not join the Golden Bear hockey team until he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1974 and had entered the Faculty of Medicine.

It was at this University that Randy began a most successful hockey career. During his four years as a defenseman for the Golden Bears, the team won the Canada West Conference title four times and National Championships twice. In 1979, after captaining the Golden Bears to their second consecutive National Championship, he was awarded the Wilson Challenge Trophy as the Most Outstanding Male Athlete at the University of Alberta. From 1975 to 1982, Randy was a member of the Edmonton Tigers Baseball team. In 1978 he was the Most Valuable Player as the Tigers won the Canadian Championships.

Following his graduation in Medicine, he represented Canada as a member of the hockey team in the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid, N.Y. Following this commitment to the National Team, Randy played two seasons for the Kokudo Bunnies in Japan before joining the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League late in the 1981-82 season. As a member of the Oilers he helped them to win consecutive Stanley Cup Championships in 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, and 1990.
