PARKING
North (Main) Campus
Visiting team vehicles may park in any car park on campus at the regular daily and evening rates. For any questions or concerns regarding parking you can contact the Director of Parking Services at (780) 492-7275.
Rates vary by location: Monday-Friday 6:00am-4:30pm is $16.00 per day, 4:30pm-6:00am is $5.50 flat rate. Saturday-Sunday is $5.50 flat rate.
South Campus
Parking on south campus is limited. There is both free and paid parking on site. Visiting Team vehicles may park in the lots on South Campus. For questions regarding parking at South Campus, please contact Customer Service at (780) 492-1000 or refer to the map on the next page.
LRT RATES
LRT Fare Rates: $3.75 cash per single trip or $10.25 day pass
Buses: May park in any gravel lot that has space available. If open gravel lots are difficult to find, facility staff will assist in directing buses. Buses are unable to park overnight.

MEDICAL SERVICES INFORMATION
TO: University Head Therapists & Medical Staff of Visiting Teams
The following information will clarify the medical and therapy services available during your stay at The University of Alberta. Should you have any questions, please contact our Varsity Health Staff by phone or E-mail. Contact information is listed below. We look forward to hosting you and your team on the University of Alberta campus.
Health and medical services for visiting teams are coordinated by Varsity Health, the primary health and medical services provider for Golden Bears & Pandas Athletics. A comprehensive package of information about services available to visiting teams, including Emergency Action Plans, is sent to all Canada West schools in August or September of each year. Visiting schools outside of Canada West will be provided with this information upon their arrival on campus.
All University of Alberta sport and recreation facilities are equipped with AEDs. Please be sure to locate the closest AED upon your arrival. In the event of an emergency, please dial 911. If you are able, please contact a Varsity Health or Facility Operations staff member. You may also contact Campus Protective Services for additional support at 780-492-5050

Field Services Provided
|
- Host Medical (Staff or Student-Kinesiologist) will introduce the medical team in attendance and will discuss the appropriate emergency action plan with the visiting medical staff prior to competition time. EAP’s are posted on-site at each facility. Host UA medical staff will lead and/or assist in EAP activation
- Host medical will act within their scope of practice to assist visiting medical staff and student-athletes at scheduled CW competitions. There will be no host medical staff or services during visiting team practices - Facility Staff will assist in EAP management in the event of emergency. Host medical qualifications per CW policy
- Visiting teams to provide their own medical representative. Contact the Host Head therapist for a list of external contractors for your team’s medical coverage in the absence of a traveling team medical personnel.
- All supplies must be provided by the visiting team. Supplies may be available upon request. The cost of supplies is the responsibility of the visiting team.
- Should emergency transport to the Hospital be required, the EAP will outline the protocol via ambulance transport or non-urgent transport via local transportation services. UofA will not be responsible for any charges associated with transportation of visiting athletes, team staff or spectators. Host medical staff will not personally transport anyone who is ill or injured.

Field and Emergency Equipment
|
- The host medical staff will discuss the location and availability of emergency medical equipment with the visiting medical staff prior to competition.
- A Summary of the list of equipment may include: Crutches; SAM & Speed splints; Blanket; Oxygen; AED; Scoop or Spine board with accessories; additional wound care supplies.
- Emergency telephone access at facility desks at all sites; Cell phones on site.
- Ice & ice bags, along with water will be provided at competition sites (no cups or water bottles).
- Any costs associated with destruction of any equipment due to vandalism or misuse will be billed to the visiting team Athletics Program.

Clinical Services: Physician
|
- Physicians will be on site for all Canada West Football, Men’s Hockey, Women’s Rugby and Wrestling events and will take charge of any emergent situations
- Access to a Varsity Physicians on-campus may be available during their regular clinic operational hours (M-F from 0900-1600) by referral appointment only. Contact our medical Hosting staff. All athletes must present their Provincial Health Care Insurance number when registering and will be responsible for regular fees.
- Alternatively, Medicentre Walk-in clinics can be accessed directly. The nearest Medicenter is either Downtown or Pleasantview. Please visit https://www.medicentres.com/clinic-finder/ for more information

Clinical Services: Therapy
|
| Visiting athletes who request treatment or management for their competition by Host medical and therapy staff will require written communication from their schools Head Therapist. Costs incurred will be the responsibility of the visiting athlete. |
Recovery Facilities and/or Training Rooms
|
- Visiting therapists may have access to first aid rooms or training rooms for event prep and/or therapy pending facility/bookings. Please consult with host medical staff for details and equipment upon arrival.
- Sites: Van Vliet Complex for Ice Hockey, Wrestling, Track & Field; Foote Field for Football, Rugby, Soccer; Saville Centre for Volleyball, Basketball, tennis, curling.
- In the event that there may be space conflicts, availability to the training rooms may change, but an alternative location or space will be set up for visiting teams.
- No visiting athlete will have access to cold (hydrotherapy) tubs, or hot packs
unless otherwise agreed upon between schools therapists.

Injury Communication
|
- CW Injury Report Form will be used for any athlete reviewed while at UA. Visiting athletes should take this information back to their institution (can take a picture), or can ask for a copy upon request.
- Physicians will keep any original copies and will send a picture with the athlete or have a copy emailed to visiting teams Head Therapist

Local Hospitals
|
- University of Alberta Hospital (address: 114 Street & 87 Avenue) emergency department for medical or dental emergencies.
- There are other emergency hospitals or after-hours emergent care centres in the city that athletes may be transported to.
- For Non-emergency transportation, the EAP will outline services (taxi) to assist your athlete in transportation. Costs will be the responsibility of the visiting athlete/team.

LOCKER ROOMS
***Although team rooms are dedicated and secure, break-ins have occurred in our team rooms. Teams are advised NOT to leave any valuables in the team locker room during your games as theft may occur. It is recommended that valuable items are brought to the bench area during your game.
North (Main) Campus - Visiting team rooms may be available. The assigned locker room number and a key or code can be obtained from the Facility Services desk (1-241 Van Viet Complex) if your event is being held in the main gym.
General Locker Room Access: Athletes can access the general locker room by producing team and school ID at time of entering the locker room.
Hansen Fitness and Lifestyle Centre: Athletes can access the Hansen Fitness and Lifestyle Centre access by producing team and school ID at time of entering fitness centre.
South Campus (Saville Community Sport Centre) - Visiting team rooms are available and will be assigned to each team for the duration of the weekend. The team rooms do have full lockers but locks are not provided on site. When a team arrives on site, the assigned locker room and respective access code will be available at the Customer Service Desk located in the main foyer of the Saville Community Sport Centre. Visiting teams will be charged for any towels that are borrowed and not returned to University of Alberta facilities.
