Bears and Pandas eye ultimate prize at 2025 Golf Canada University Championship

National Championship runs June 2-6 at Rivershore Golf Links in Kamloops

Coming off one of their best fall seasons in program history, the Golden Bears and Pandas Golf teams are in Kamloops for the 2025 Golf Canada National Championship.

It marks the Bears first appearance at nationals since 2019, and the Pandas first trip since 2016.

Led by team MVP Ethan Howes, the Golden Bears placed 6th at the 2024 Canada West Championship in Kelowna, missing out on a top five spot at an automatic berth to nationals by just four shots. Howes captured the individual titles at both the UofA and UofC Invitational Tournaments in September.

Joining Howes for the Bears will be Canada West All-Star and dual-sport athlete Kai Baerg, along with Seth Mottershead-Yee, Nicholas Mah, and Braydon Bouliane.

Three-time tournament winner Kalee Seto leads the Pandas, who also placed 6th at the CW Championship in October. Seto won each of the Alberta, Lethbridge, and Calgary Invitationals in the fall. Seto will be joined by first-year Pandas Hayden Desmarais, Amy Smith, and Anna Kibria.

The Golden Bears and Pandas are coached by Jacques Plouffe (Royal Mayfair Golf Club) and Elizabeth Stewart (Blackhawk Golf Club).

The UBC Thunderbird women have won the last seven University Championships, while the UBC men have won three of the last four, along with a win from Victoria in 2023.
