CALGARY - It was a golden Monday for the UAlberta Golf program, as
Sean Robertson and
Kalee Seto both captured the individual titles at the Dinos Open at Springbank Links Golf Course.Â
Robertson captured the men's individual title, finishing with a 70-74 (+2) to win by two shots over Calgary's Ethan Banks. Robertson fired an even par 36 on the back nine on Monday to hold off Banks, who shot a three-under 68 in the final round.Â
The Golden Bears also captured the team title by two shots over the Dinos, marking the first tournament win for Alberta head coach Jacques Plouffe. Josh Guthrie (76-71 / 3rd),
Blake Roberts (75-79 / 10th) and
Owen Lai (74-80 / 10th) also earned top-10 finishes for the first-place Bears.Â
Seto overcame a four-shot deficit, firing a final round 78 to capture the Dinos Open women's individual title. The Rookie Panda finished her round on Monday with an even-par 36 on the back nine, recording birdies on her 17th and 18th holes of the day to win by four shots.
Third-year Panda
Jenna Sand eagled the 18th hole, finishing with a 78 of her own to finish in a tie for second place.
Cici Zhang (6th) also placed inside the top 10 for the Pandas.Â
Seto and Sand's performances on Monday were nearly enough for the Pandas to comeback and claim the team title, finishing just three shots behind the host Calgary Dinos. Alberta entered the final round trailing by 14.Â
Next on the schedule for the Bears and Pandas is the 2023 Canada West Championship, hosted at Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford, BC (October 1-3).Â
