Helping the Golden Bears wrestling team capture their 18th conference title, second-year Bear Aidan Stevenson has been named the Sherlock Holmes Athlete of the Week.

Stevenson dominated the men's 82kg weight class, earning technical fall wins over both Wesley Smith and Reid Smyth. His gold medal winning performance was also enough to earn him the Canada West Male Wrestler of the Year award. He is the second Bear to win that award consecutivley, joining Isaiah Springer's performance in 2022. 

Along with his win at the Canada West Championship on their home floor, Stevenson also captured individual gold at both the Golden Bears Invitational and Huskie Open in Saskatoon, to go along with silver medals at the SFU Open and McMaster Invitational, and a bronze at the Dino Open. 

Next on the wresting schedule is the 2023 U SPORTS Championship, scheduled for February 24th and 25th at the University of Alberta's Main Gymnasium.
