Canada West Record Holder = Sherlock Holmes Athlete of the Week.
As if there was any doubt, fifth-year Golden Bears soccer forward
Ajeej Sarkaria earned the AOW honour after a
record-breaking performance against MacEwan.Â
Sarkaria scored four goals in two matches against the Griffins, becoming the new Canada West men's soccer all-time scoring leader. The Edmonton, Alta. product surpassed the men's record of 39 goals scored, which was set by former Victoria Vike Simon Vickers (1994-98).Â
Sarkaria scored the lone Bears goal in their 1-1 season-opening draw against MacEwan, before scoring three, and adding an assist, in the Bears 5-0 win on Sunday afternoon.Â
Sunday's performance also marked Sarkaria's fourth career hat-trick, and second career four-point game.Â
The 1-0-1 Bears will be back in action this weekend, when they battle the Mount Royal Cougars in a home-and-home series.Â
