Stopping 46 of the 48 shots she faced in two starts, fourth-year Pandas goalie Halle Oswald has been named the Sherlock Holmes Athlete of the Week.Â
Oswald was terrific in leading the Pandas to a pair of wins over the U SPORTS #5 ranked Mount Royal Cougars, helping the Pandas extend their win streak to five. The Sanford, Manitoba product allowed just two goals in 120 minutes against MRU, giving Oswald six-straight starts with fewer than three goals against.Â
Oswald turned aside 21 of the 22 shots she faced on Friday night in Calgary, before stopping 25 of the 26 shots she faced in Saturday's 3-1 win. Saturday's performance was arguably her best of the season, as the Pandas were outshot 26-14, which included eight Cougar powerplay chances, and a late five-on-three advantage in the third period.Â
In 17 games this season, Oswald owns a 11-5-1 record, and sits third in CW with a .937 save percentage, and 4th with a 1.40 goals against average.Â
The second-place Pandas will host the 9-7-4 TWU Spartans this weekend.Â
