Sharp-shooting their way to a sweep over the visiting Brandon Bobcats, fourth-year Bears guard Brandon Meiklejohn has been named the Sherlock Holmes Athlete of the Week.
Meiklejohn dropped 45 points in a pair of Bears wins, as the Alberta men picked up their fourth and fifth straight conference wins.Â
The former Harry Ainlay Titan was locked in during Friday night's 90-62 win, scoring 20 points on just 8/12 shooting, adding two assists and one steal. Meiklejohn backed that up with an even better performance on Saturday, scoring a game-high 25 points on 8/15 shooting, making six of his 11 attempts from beyond the arc. His six makes were the sixth most in a game in Bears history, while his 11 attempts were the second most in a single game.Â
His 25-point performance was the also second highest point total this season, behind only a 28-point outing against UBC in December.Â
In his fourth season in Evergreen and Gold, Meiklejohn ranks 5th all-time in three-pointers made with 125, and 7th in make percentage (.422).Â
Meiklejohn and the Bears will head on the road this weekend, as they visit the 5-11 Saskatchewan Huskies in Saskatoon.Â
