Turning aside 49 of the 51 shots she faced in the first conference weekend of 2021, third-year Pandas goalie
Halle Oswald has been named the Sherlock Holmes Athlete of the Week.
Oswald was terrific in the Pandas 2-1 double overtime win on Friday night, stopping 29 of the 30 shots she faced, including all 16 MRU shots she faced in the third period and overtime. The Sanford, Manitoba product was also forced to make a handful of acrobatic saves, as the Cougars pushed for the game-winner late on Friday night.
Oswald was also stellar on Saturday, coming in for the injured Kirsten Chamberlin after the first period. The third-year goalie made 19 saves on 20 Cougar shots, including making three saves on four shootout attempts in the Pandas 3-2 loss.
Her 49 saves are the most in Canada West through two games, with her .961 save percentage ranking fourth.Â
Oswald and the Pandas will return to conference action on October 29th, when they visit the Regina Cougars.Â
