Third-year Golden Bears keeper Liam Collens has been named the Sherlock Holmes Athlete of the Week following a stellar road weekend.Â
Collens, the 2021 Bears Soccer MVP, was excellent this past weekend in Saskatoon and Lethbridge, with the Bears picking up a 1-1 draw in Saskatoon, followed by a 2-1 win in Lethbridge.Â
Collens stopped five of the six shots he faced in Saskatoon, before turning in an outstanding performance in Lethbridge, stopping eight of the nine shots he faced, leading the Bears to their first win of the season. Six of his eight saves also came in the second half, with the Bears holding on to their one-goal lead.Â
Through four games this season, Collens owns a 1-0-3 record with a .852 save percentage.Â
Following Sunday's performance, Collens also moved into fourth place in Bears history for both career saves (106) and wins (9). Alberta will return to the pitch on Saturday, when they visit the MacEwan Griffins at Clarke Stadium.Â
