Leading the Golden Bears to their 13th Canada West Championship, second-year wrestler Isaiah Springer has been named the Sherlock Holmes Pub Athlete of the Week. 

Springer, a third-year education student, captured Gold in the men's 72kg weight class at the conference championship in Saskatoon. Springer bested former U SPORTS medalists Jon Risto (Saskatchewan) and Connor McNiece (Calgary) to win the loaded weight class.  

It's the second CW medal for Springer, who won silver in the 65kg class in 2020, who earned a U SPORTS bronze that year in the same weight class. 

For his efforts, Springer was named both the Male Athlete of the Year, and the Student-Athlete Community Service award winner.
