
After a record-setting performance in Winnipeg this past weekend, Golden Bears sprinter Austin Cole has been named the Sherlock Holmes Pub Athlete of the Week.Â
The fourth-year Golden Bear won a pair of gold medals at the Jim Daly Bison Classic, winning the 300m dash, and the 4x200m relay.Â
Cole won the 300m with a time of 33.74, with this being the 4th time this season Cole has won the 300m. He won the same event at the Golden Bears Open (34.25), Pandas Open (33.80), and Bison Open (33.88) already this season, while setting a new-season best time in a final this weekend.Â
Cole, along with Josh Li, Justin Rose, and Evan Essapa also won the men's 4x200m relay with a time of 1:26.61, setting a new Golden Bears program record.Â
The previous record of 1:26.81 was set in 2005, which also happened at the banked track in Winnipeg. The Bears 4x200m relay team is currently ranked
No. 1 in U SPORTS, with Cole occuying the top ranked spot in the men's 300m. Cole also holds the Bears program record in the 300 with a time of 32.89 set in 2019.Â
Cole, the two-time defending 300m Canada West Champion, will look at add more hardware to his collection at the 2022 Canada West Championship, hosted by the Manitoba Bisons, March 18th to 20th.Â
