For the second time this season, fifth-year Bears guard Tyus Jefferson has been named the Sherlock Holmes Pub Athlete of the Week.
Jefferson was sensational for the undefeated Bears, powering the U SPORTS No. 2 ranked squad to a weekend sweep over the UofL Pronghorns in Lethbridge.Â
The Riverton, Utah product was a walking bucket in Lethbridge, dropping a combined 52 points in two games. Of those 52 points, only three came from a single three-pointer, with the rest coming from inside the arc.Â
Jefferson dropped 24 points in the Bears 78-64 win on Friday, scoring 16 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter, with the two rivals leveled at 52 after three quarters. He also added six boards, three assists, and three steals.Â
The veteran guard was even better on Saturday, recording a season-high 28 points on 12/16 shooting, leading the Bears to a 91-84 road win.Â
Jefferson also added four rebounds and two steals on Saturday. Through 14 games this season, he is averaging 14.6/4.3/4.1 in just 26 minutes per game.Â
The 14-0 Bears will look to wrap up an undefeated season this weekend, as they host the Calgary Dinos on Saturday and Sunday at Saville.Â
The 2022 U SPORTS Final 8, Presented by the Westin Edmonton, is scheduled for April 1-3 at Saville.Â
