Looking to punch their ticket to the 2025 World Junior Championships in Italy, the Golden Bears and Pandas junior teams take to the ice this week at the Canadian U20 Curling Championships in Summerside, PEI. 

Both the UofA teams will be representing Alberta in PEI, with the respective men's and women's winners earning a spot at the World Junior Championship, April 12-21 in Cortina, Italy. 

The Golden Bears earned a spot at the Canadian Championship thanks to an undefeated record at the Alberta provincials, going a perfect 9-0 at the Red Deer Curling Club. The team consisting of Zach Davies, Ronan Peterson, William Butler and Lucas Sawiak went 7-0 in pool play, before earning a 7-2 win over Team Hlushak in the page playoff, before defeating them again 5-3 in the final. 

Led by Skip Gracelyn Richards, the Pandas lost in the Alberta final, but earned a spot in the Canadian field as Alberta '2'. Alongside Emma Yarmuch, Sophia Ryorchuk and Amy Wheatcroft, the Pandas led Team Plett 6-5 after four ends. A score of 2 from the Pandas tied the game 8-8, before Team Plett scored a single in 10 to earn a 9-8 win. 

Both the Bears and Pandas will play eight-game round robins, with the playoffs getting underway on March 29th.
