12 teams will battle it out this week in Hinton for the right to represent Alberta at the 2024 Montana's Brier. Among the 12 teams participating is the Golden Bears, fresh off capturing a Canada West title on home ice in mid-January, along with nine other Bears alumni.Â
27% of the field will be made up of Golden Bears, with six of the 12 teams competing featuring at least one current or former UofA student-athlete.Â
The Golden Bears will be competing as Team Tao, and will feature the same lineup that won the
CW curling championship; Skip
Johnson Tao, third
Jaeden Neuert, second
Ben Morin and lead
Andrew Nowell. The Bears are seeded 5th, and will open the competition on Wednesday against Team Vavrek.

Ryan Jacques,
Andrew Gittis,
Gabe Dyck (Team Jacques), Karrick Martin (Team Koe), Tristan Steinke, Chris Kennedy (Team Webb), and Evan Asmussen (Team Vavrek).Â
The 2024 Boston Pizza Cup will begin on February 7th, and feature a double-knockout format championship. The four teams who advance through the knock-out stage will square off in a page-playoff starting on Saturday, February 11th. The Alberta final is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.Â
All games will be streamed live on Curling Alberta's YouTube channel. The 2024 Brier is scheduled for March 1st through 10th in Regina.Â
