In their third full meet of the 2023/24 season, the Golden Bears and Pandas picked up an impressive 11 podium finishes, including five individual gold medals.
Additionally, two Golden Bears set new personal bests, while also climbing the U SPORTS rankings lists. Following this weekend's competition, the Bears rank sixth nationally, while the Pandas sit eighth.
The 8th Annual Pandas Open is scheduled for February 9th and 10th in the UofA Butterdome.
Jim Daly Bison Classic Highlights
- Josh Li (300m), Grace Cook (600m), Priscilla Boakye (Shot Put), Wesley Eze (Shot Put), and Larissa Bishop (Triple Jump) all won their respective events.
- Josh Li set a new personal best in the 300m with a time of 34.09, which also places him fourth in Golden Bears history in that event.
- Wesley Eze did the same in the men's shot put, winning goal with a throw of 16.24m. Eze now ranks third in the nation this season, and third in Bears program history with his throw.
- Priscilla Boakye's throw of 12.69m placed her ninth in Pandas history, and ninth in U SPORTS this season.
- Adesola Esan (300m), Ron MacLean (1500m), Abby Gallimore (high jump), and the Bears 4x200m relay team all captured silver medals.
- Bolu Ariyo (long jump), and Cayla Smith (300m) earned bronze finishes in their repsective events.
- In total 15 Bears and six Pandas set new personal bests over the weekend.
