EDMONTON – A pair of programs solidified their dynasty status on Saturday in Edmonton, as both the Saskatchewan Huskies women and Manitoba Bisons men captured their respective 2024 Canada West Track & Field banners.

Saskatchewan has now won six-straight women's titles, surpassing the Huskies previous conference record of five-straight from 1997-2001. Manitoba, meanwhile, held off the host Golden Bears to narrowly capture their third-straight men's banner, becoming the first team since the 1999-2005 Huskies to win three-straight titles.

Both the Bisons and Huskies had one thing in common en route to championship titles; depth across all events. The Huskies finished the meet with eight medals on each Friday and Saturday, running away with the women's title. Holding a five-point lead over Calgary after Day 1, the Huskies captured four gold medals on Saturday, with Avery Pearson (600m), Olamide Olaloku (triple jump) and both their 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams pacing their victory.

Manitoba finished the weekend with 16 total podium finishes, including three gold medals on Saturday to capture the team title. Daxx Turner repeated in the men's triple jump finishing two centimetres off the Canada West record. Dawson Mann (600m) and Justin Soufi (60m) also won their respective events on Saturday.

The Calgary Dinos earned three of the four athlete of the year awards, supplying some of the most iconic performances in Canada West history. After Sienna MacDonald's triple-gold performance on Friday, Noel Vanderzee electrified the crowd on Saturday with a CW record in the men's high jump. Vanderzee finished with a jump of 2.22 metres, shattering the previous record of 2.17m. His jump not only broke Dinos program and Canada West records, but also broke a 34-year old Alberta indoor record, and now sits 31^st in the world this season.

Dino Alexis Johnson earned both the Community Service and Field Athlete of the Year awards, winning gold in the women's weight throw, and placing second in the shot put.

Golden Bear Justin Rose was named the men's Track Athlete of the Year after adding gold medals in the 4x200m and 4x400m relays, to go along with his record-setting performance in the 60m hurdles on Friday.

Calgary's Chloe Turner (1^st – 3000m & 3^rd – 1500m) and Trinity Western's Nicolas Martin Huerva (Gold – Pole Vault) were named the Rookies of the Year.

All attention will now shift to Winnipeg, as the Manitoba Bisons will host the 2024 U SPORTS Championship, March 7^th to 9^th.
