Story Lines:

  • The Bears and Pandas will head east this week, as the Regina Cougars host the 2026 U SPORTS Curling Championships.
  • The Pandas enter as the Canada West Champions and are in search of a record-setting seventh national title. The Alberta women have won three of the last four U SPORTS titles, with all six of their current national championship wins coming since 2016.
  • The Golden Bears earned a CW silver medal after losing to Calgary in the conference final. The Bears are looking for their fourth national title, and first since 2018.
  • The 2026 U SPORTS Champions will also be selected to represent Canada at the 2027 Winter World University Games in Changchun, China.

Story Lines:
  • Finishing second in the West Division, the Pandas will host the Manitoba Bisons in a quarter-final series this weekend at Clare Drake Arena.
  • The Pandas are the defending Canada West Champions.
  • Alberta and Manitoba split their two regular season meetings, with the Pandas earning a 5-4 OT win, followed by a 4-2 Bisons win.
  • The winner will move on to the CW Semifinal, hosted by the Mount Royal Cougars.

Story Lines:
  • After a decisive home win over UFV in the quarter-final, the Golden Bears will head to Victoria for the conference semifinal.
  • Friday's winner will advance to both the conference final, as well as clinch a spot at the 2026 U SPORTS Final 8 in Calgary.
  • The Bears are aiming for their first CW title since 2017, while Victoria is the defending national champions, and have won three of the last four conference banners.

Story Lines:
  • For the second time in three years, the Golden Bears and Huskies will meet in the CW quarter-final in Saskatoon.
  • Alberta earned a 2-1 series win over Saskatchewan in 2024.
  • The Huskies did, however, sweep the Bears during the 2025/26 regular season, earning home wins of 7-4 and 6-2.
  • The winner will advance to take on UBC in the semifinal.

  • The U SPORTS #2 ranked Golden Bears head to Saskatoon as the favourite to capture their eighth conference title, and first since 2018.
  • Leading the Bears are Ryder Rattee (300m, 600m), Nico Claramunt (300m), Clay Grattidge (600m), Isaiah Baker (long jump) and their 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams, all of whom are ranked in the top three nationally this season.
  • Meanwhile, the Pandas are ranked #6 in Canada, and third among Canada West programs.
  • Medal threats for the Pandas include Rachel Grenke (pole vault), Olivia Cooper (1000m, 1500m), Riona Morrison (60m), and Addison Lauer (triple jump).
