Former Canada West All-Rookie team member and Golden Bears Hockey Alumni
Noah Philp has become the become the 15th Golden Bears Hockey alumni to play in the NHL, making his debut on Thursday night for the Edmonton Oilers.Â
Philp is the first GBH alumni to make his NHL debut since his brother Luke suited up for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2023. Noah joins former Bears forward Derek Ryan (Edmonton Oilers) as the only GBH alumni currently on an NHL roster — Ryan has been a full-time NHL player since 2016. Philp is the 6th Bears alumni to play for the Edmonton Oilers, joining Byron Baltimore, Randy Gregg,
Ian Herbers, Cory Cross, and Ryan.Â
The former Seattle Thunderbird and Kootenay Ice star spent three seasons with the Golden Bears (2019-2021), highlighted by 27 points in 28 conference games as a rookie in 2019/20. Philp played in integral role in helping the Bears capture a 2022 Canada West title and U SPORTS silver medal, scoring twice in the University Cup Final against UQTR.Â
Prior to joining the Bears, Philp spent four seasons in the Western Hockey League, which included a 75-point campaign with Seattle in 2018/19. Philp signed a professional contract with the Edmonton Oilers following the 2022 university season, and spent the 2022/23 season with the Bakersfield Condors in the American Hockey League.Â
