We have made the difficult decision to end the University of Alberta's swim program after the 2024/25 season. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing financial challenges and complications of not having a competitive swim facility on campus, a swim program is not viable for the U of A at this time. 

The U of A's current student swim athletes will continue their 2024/25 season and complete their competition activities. Throughout this year, University Athletics and student services will support all students in assessing their swim, athletics and academic options for next year.

Competing since 1948 at the varsity level for both the Golden Bears and Pandas, the university is immensely proud of the over 500 alumni from the swim program, which includes 12 Sports Wall of Fame inductees. Most recently, over the last four years, the team has benefitted from a collaboration between the UofA and Edmonton Keyano Swim Club for premier coaching and training. We want to recognize the dedication and passion that all of our student-athletes, coaches, partners and supporters have shared with the U of A community over the years.
