Capping off his 2022/23 track season in style, fourth-year Bear
Justin Rose captured gold in the
men's 400m hurdles at the 2023 Bell Canadian Track & Field Championship in Langley, BC.
Rose, who was named the Bears Track & Field MVP this past April, finished first in his qualifying heat with a time of 51.63. He bested that mark in the final, cruising to victory with a time of 51.38.Â
The Edmonton product also captured silver in the
men's 4x100m relay, alongside fellow Bears
Josh Li and
Evan Essapa.Â
Among the other notable results from the weekend in Langley was Panda
Olivia Cooper placing fifth in the women's 800m, her first time competing in the senior event at the Canadian Championships. The fifth place finish comes just a week after Cooper captured
gold in the same event at the 2023 NACAC Championship.Â
Sophomore
Tegra Jan-King (U20 high jump silver) and first-year
Darren Beaver (silver in U20 100m) have also qualified for the U20 Pan Am Championship thanks to their performances in Langley.Â
