Trying to build on their legacy as the most successful curling program in Canada, the Golden Bears & Pandas head to Sudbury for the 2023 U SPORTS / Curling Canada University Championship.
The first national tournament held since 2020 will run from March 15th to 19th at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex. This weekend marks the first time Laurentian University has hosted the Curling national championship.Â

Despite placing second at the Canada West Championship three weeks ago, the Pandas head to nationals as the defacto defending champions, winning the 2020 championship in Manitoba. The Pandas have also won two of the last three national titles, winning in 2018 in Leduc.Â

On the men's side, the Bears will be joined by the Calgary Dinos, Dalhousie Tigers, Laurentian Voyageurs, Queen's Gaels, SMU Huskies, UNB Reds and Laurier Golden Hawks. Alberta (2012, 2015, 2018), Laurier (2008, 2016, 2020) and Queen's (2010) are the three past champions competing this week in Sudbury.Â
The Pandas will battle the Dalhousie Tigers, Laurentian Voyageurs, McMaster Marauders, Memorial Sea-Hawks, TMU Bold, UPEI Panthers, and Victoria Vikes. The Pandas four titles (2015, 2016, 2018, 2020) are tied for the most in history, with the host Voyageurs (2017, 2019) the only other past champion in the field this week.Â
