Entering the final stretch for the championship season, the Golden Bears and Pandas captured 12 podium finishes at the 2023 Jim Daly Bison Classic in Winnipeg.
Along with the medals, two Pandas also set new personal bests; Autumn Cole with a gold medal finish in the women's triple jump (12.05m), and Priscilla Boakye's silver medal performance in the women's weight throw (14.10m). Cole's jump was also the second longest in Pandas history, just short of the record of 12.22 set by Courtney Wilkes in 2014.
Along with Cole, Abigail Gallimore (Women's High Jump), and Catharina Kluyts (Women's 60m Hurdles), and both Bears and Pandas 4x200m relay teams also took home gold in their respective events in Winnipeg.
Hailey Hitchings also added a silver in the women's 60m hurdles, with the Bears 4x400m relay team also placing second.
Josh Li (Men's 300m), Tegra Jan-King (Men's High Jump), Evan Essapa (Men's 60m), and the Pandas 4x400m relay team all earned third place finishes.
Next on the schedule for the UofA track program is the 7th Annual Pandas Open, February 10/11 in the Butterdome.
