SASKATOON - Both the Golden Bears and Pandas bested their estimated point totals, earning both team silver medals at the 2023 Canada West Track & Field Championship. The Saskatchewan Huskies captured their 5th-straight women's team title, while the Manitoba Bisons won their second-straight men's title. 

After 10 combined medals on Friday, the Bears & Pandas added another 13 on Saturday. 

The Bears were led by Tegra Jan-King, who was named the CW Rookie of the Year. Jan-King won gold in the men's high jump, placing 5th in the triple jump, and 14th in the long jump. Spencer Allen (Pole Vault), and Nick Cook (1500m) also added gold for the Alberta men. 

Ron MacLean (1500m) and James Waitr (Shot Put), and the Bears 4x400m and 4x400m relay teams added silvers on Saturday, along with a bronze from Keon Nurse (High Jump). 

Autumn Cole continued her stellar season, scoring gold in the women's triple jump. Catharina Kluyts added to her gold from Friday with a bronze in the 60m, to go along with a bronze from Grace Cook in the 600m, a Pandas silver in the 4x200m and a bronze in the 4x400m.

On Friday, the Pandas were led by three gold medal winning performances; Catharina Kluyts defending her title in the 60m hurdles, Olivia Cooper in the 1000m and the Pandas 4x800m relay team. 

The Pandas also added three bronze medals; Kaitlin Swartz in the 1000m, Autumn Cole in the long jump, and Sierra Leonard in the pole vault. 

Taking home four medals, the Bears were led to a third place spot by Justin Rose, who earned gold in the 60m hurdles, only to follow it up with a bronze in the 300m dash. 

The Bears also added two more bronze; Nick Cook in the 1000m, and the Bears 4x800m relay team.
