PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, MANITOBA - The Alberta Pandas stole five in the second end and three in the third, en route to a 10-2 win over the UNB Reds to capture the program's fourth U SPORTS National Championship.

The Pandas have now won two national titles in three years, with all four of their titles coming in the last six seasons (2015. 2016, 2018, 2020). By winning the national title, the Pandas have also earned the right to represent Team Canada at the 2021 Winter Universiade Games in Lucerne, Switzerland. 

"Anytime you get to represent your country at a world competition is an unreal feeling that never gets old," said Alberta skip Selena Sturmay.

It also extends the University of Alberta's national title streak to 27, with the 1992/1993 season being the last in which the Bears or Pandas haven't won a banner. 

The Pandas led 7-0 after three ends, stealing each of those points against the Reds. After UNB got on the board with a single in four, the Pandas added to their lead with three more in the fifth. UNB ended the national final after scoring just one in the sixth. 

On the men's side, the Golden Bears defeated the Guelph Gryphons 11-6 to win the U SPORTS bronze medal. It marks the 10th-straight season in which the Golden Bears have won a national title, and the second-straight bronze for the Alberta men. The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks captured the men's national title.
