A born-and-raised Edmontonian, Hood is a graduate of the Radio & Television Arts program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
After spending time as the Communications and Video Intern with the Saskatoon Blades in the Western Hockey League, Hood joined Golden Bears and Pandas Athletics in the summer of 2015. After spending two years as the Sports Information Assistant, Hood took over as the Sports Information & Communications Coordinator in February of 2017.
Handling communications and media relations for all 24 Golden Bears & Pandas varsity programs, Hood has also been the communications lead for seven U SPORTS National Championships, including the 2024 Women’s Basketball Championship. Since 2020, he has also acted as the team manager for the Golden Bears & Pandas golf program.Â
Along with his work at the University of Alberta, Hood has been a member of the Canada West Marketing and Communications Committee since 2018, served as the conference’s Sports Information Director liaison (2018-2022), and is the President-Elect on the Canadian Cabinet (CANSIDA) for College Sports Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA). Beginning in 2023, Hood has been the Chair of the Canada West Awards Committee.Â
In 2022, he was among the inaugural
CSC 30 Under 30 class, given to young university sport communicators based on their professional success, impact on their athletic department, and service to CSC.Â
Outside of University Athletics, Hood was the Media Chair of the 2022 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Edmonton.Â
