Born in Newcastle, England, Matt Parrish has been a part of the Pandas Rugby program since its inception in 1999. An assistant coach to Helen Wright for the first five years of the Pandas exsistence, Parrish helped the team win five-straight Canada West and CIS National Championships.Â
He took over from Wright as the Pandas head coach prior to the 2004 season, and has been in the role ever since. Over his 21 years as head coach, Parris has won five more Canada West Championships, the 2013 CIS Championship, and five Canada West Coach of the Year Awards.Â
He has also spent time coaching with both Rugby Alberta and Rugby Canada, and is heavily involved in the Edmonton Rugby Community. His wife Heather is a member of the University of Alberta Sports Wall of Fame.Â
