Sean Reader received his Bachelor of Arts in English in 1997 and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 1999, both from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina in 2004. While attending university, Sean was a member of the Football team as a kicker and receiver, from 1993 to 1997. During that time, he was part of the teams that twice competed in the National Championship game, winning the Vanier Cup once in 1996. As well as football, Sean was a member of the Track and Field team from 1996 to 1998. He competed and medaled in the 60m, 200m, 400m sprints as well as the 4x100m, 4x200m and 4x400m relays.

Sean begins his third season with the Bears after spending ten seasons with the Regina Thunder as the Receivers, Special Teams Coordinator, and Strength and Conditioning coach. He has been a guest coach at the South Saskatchewan Senior Bowl Tryouts (2000) and the Can-Am Six-Man Tryouts (2001), Saskota Bowl Tryouts (2004), and the Football Alberta U18 Tryouts (2010-2012). Sean has instructed many Level 1 and Level 2 National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Football Technical Courses dealing with Receivers, Specialists, and Special Teams Systems. He himself is a fully certified Level 3 coach in the National Coaching Certification Program and holds an active Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) designation.

Currently, Sean is employed by the University of Alberta as a full-time assistant coach and sessional instructor.

Sean, and his wife of 16 years Laura, have two children, Jordan (girl) who is 10 years old, and Haley who is 8 years old.
