Golden Bears and Pandas Athletics is the varsity department for the University of Alberta. Golden Bears and Pandas Athletics is one of Canada’s premier intercollegiate programs. The U of A competes in the Canada West conference, which resides under the U SPORTS national body, and is home to 22 teams and over 500 student-athletes. The U of A competes in the sports of Basketball, Cross-Country, Curling, Football, Golf, Ice Hockey, Rugby, Soccer, Tennis, Track & Field, Volleyball, and Wrestling. It is our vision to be recognized locally, regionally, nationally and internationally as a leader in the pursuit and achievement of excellence in sport.
Position summary
We’re seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable webcast commentators to bring energy, insight, and professionalism to our live-streamed varsity games. This is a part-time, event-based role ideal for someone passionate about sports and storytelling.
Golden Bears and Pandas Athletics produces live webcasts for all conference and playoff basketball, football, hockey, rugby, soccer, volleyball games as well as home track & field meets.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver live play-by-play or colour commentary during varsity games
- Provide context, analysis, and background on teams, athletes, and game flow
- Work closely with the webcast production team for smooth, engaging broadcasts
What You Bring:
- Strong knowledge of sports (rules, strategy, and player dynamics)
- Clear, confident speaking voice and on-air presence
- Ability to prepare and research ahead of broadcasts
- Comfortable working evenings and weekends
