Sports Wall of Fame Selection Criteria

Selection Process

Nominations can be solicited from the general public, GGAS Alumni Groups, SWOF committee members and internally from Golden Bears & Pandas Athletics. Selections are the sole responsibility of the Selection Committee who will recommend the selections to Alumni Awards Council (AAC) for endorsement.

The maximum number of recipients presented for approval to the AAC will be four (4). However in an exceptional year, five (5) can be submitted for approval by the AAC, taking into consideration budget and total number of inductees that given year AAC will make the final approval.

Normally no university athlete and/or sport program builder will be named to the Sports Wall of Fame within (5) years of the completion of their University of Alberta sporting career. All nominations will be considered for three consecutive competitions, the Chair will contact all nominators of expired nominations, which are eligible to be resubmitted for consideration. Nominations are only considered complete with at least one (1) letter of support.
