THE POSITION
The University of Alberta is currently looking for a talented and passionate individual to fill the role of Organist for our Golden Bears and Pandas Hockey teams at the Clare Drake Arena. Reporting to the Production Supervisor; The Organist/Synthesizer Operator is responsible for playing the synthesizer during all Golden Bear and Pandas home games while collaborating with production and event staffs to ensure all musical requirements for the game are met.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform as the organist/synth operator during all U of A Golden Bears and Pandas home
- hockey games at the Clare Drake Arena
- Includes playing popular music as well as playing to and for crowd chants;
- Ability to play the Canadian National Anthem
- All other duties as assigned.
THE INDIVIDUAL
The ideal candidate will have the following background:
- Familiarity with the Yamaha DX7s Synthesizer
- Professional level of musical talent from training and/or experience specifically in
- piano/keyboard or similar instrument;
- Thorough working knowledge of hockey and a strong understanding of hockey music;
- Experience performing for a large crowd;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Ability to work well under pressure;
- Schedule flexibility to work evening and weekend shifts.
