EDMONTON - The Alberta Pandas played the final 67 minutes a player short after a red card to their goalkeeper, but held on for a 0-0 draw with the University of Lethbridge on Sunday at Foote Field.
Goalkeeper
Tessa Borrelli was sent off in the 23rd minute, forcing the Pandas to defend the rest of the way with 10 players and kept Lethbridge off the scoresheet, as the Pronghorns managed just six shots on target on the day, with
Lizzy McLeod making four saves in relief.
Alberta was far from passive, out-shooting Lethbridge 16-9 with nine shots on target, including 10 attempts in the second half.
Brooklyn Schott and
Maya Letellier each led the Pandas with several chances, but Lethbridge goalkeeper Kate Prince made eight saves to preserve the shutout at the other end.
The draw came a day after Alberta blanked Lethbridge 4-0 on Saturday. It leaves the Pandas at 2-5-1 on the season, while Lethbridge is also 2-5-1. The Pandas (2-5-1) will travel to face the Manitoba Bisons on Saturday.
