EDMONTON - Five Pandas scored in double-digits as an impressive depth effort catapulted Alberta to a 94-46 victory over the Lethbridge Pronghorns in the regular season finale Saturday evening at the Saville Centre.
The hosts were terrific on offence on Senior Night, shooting 51% from the floor and boasting an eye-popping 64 points from the bench. Mishynn Miller and Jayden Tanner paced the Pandas with 13 points apiece, while Ella Rees added three triples and 11 points.
Alberta is now locked into the eighth seed in the CW playoffs, and will travel to UBC for the Play-In/Quarterfinals next weekend. They will play the Victoria Vikes in the Play-In game, and if successful will face the UBC Thunderbirds the following day.
The Pronghorns finish their season at 5-15, and were led by Mhari Mattuli and Asia Wells who finished with a team-high eight points. They were good on the offensive end at times in this one, but were unable to stop a Pandas offence and defence that was ferocious for the majority of the day.
The graduating Pandas have 24 years of program history between them, and were all a part of the wildly successful 2022-23 Alberta squad that won the Canada West and added a U SPORTS Bronze to boot.Â
Morgan Harris, hometown guard from Edmonton, started almost immediately upon her career debut. The CW All-Rookie in 2022 was an illustrious playmaker and tenacious defender, finishing her career ranked 3rd in Pandas history in assists and games started, while sitting second all-time in steals.
Hailing from Calgary, Jayden Tanner showed 100% effort whenever on the floor, and nabbed a key role in the starting lineup for the last three seasons. Her offensive ability has continued to blossom over her career, culminating in a stellar 13.5 points-per-game average this season.
Rylee Semeniuk, a Kelowna product, was the consummate "glue" player for the Pandas over the last five seasons. She saw a consistent 14 minutes per game in her career, and was able to score, defend, rebound, and orchestrate offence whenever the moment called for it.
Devon, Alberta's Elise Toogood has been a steady fixture in the post for Scott Edwards over her four year career. Her game blossomed in 2025-26, playing a career-high 17 minutes per game while being a major contributor on the defensive end.
Finally, Sherwood Park's Jenna Karach finishes her five-year career with 78 regular season games played. She was a wizard in the post at times, with the lefty deploying a myriad of offensive moves over her CW career.
Alberta matched their first quarter output from yesterday's game, going on a scorching scoring run near the end of the frame to take a 26-13 lead into the second. The story was largely the same as well, as the Pandas ferocious effort on the defensive end led to 11 points off of six turnovers. Ella Rees paced all scorers potting two triples in the frame.
The Pandas ripped the game wide open in the second, going on a 20-2 run in the first seven minutes in the quarter to take a large 53-19 lead into the half. The Alberta defence would not rest, full-court pressing and double-teaming their way to 11 turnovers in frame.Â
The Pronghorns would put up some impressive resistance in the third quarter, but a 23-11 Pandas fourth put the game beyond reach.
