Story Lines:

  • Looking for their first win of 2025, Golden Bears Football hosts Calgary on Friday night at Foote Field.
  • The Bears home-opener against Saskatchewan on August 29th saw 4,500 spectators pack Foote Field, including over 3,000 UofA students.
  • The Bears have had no issue moving the ball this season, ranking third in Canada West in yards per game (426.5) and second with 51 first downs.
  • However, the Bears have allowed 181 rush yards per game and rank last in both penalties and penalty yards.
  • With a conference-best 644 passing yards through two weeks, Eli Hetlinger needs just 35 yards to become the fifth Bears quarterback to reach 5,000 in their career. Hetlinger is the Bears all-time leader in completion % and ranks third in career passing touchdowns with 32.
  • Blair Zahara holds the program record with 6,535 passing yards.
  • The Golden Bears will be seeking their first home win over Calgary since 2008.
