VANCOUVER - Fifth-year forward Claire Signatovich finished with a game-high 16 points and 15 rebounds, leading the Pandas to a 64-38 win in the U SPORTS Consolation Final.Â
Signatovich also added two steals and an assist in her final game as a Panda.Â
As a team the Pandas held Laval to a 19% shooting clip, with the Rouge et Or going 1/32 from beyond the arc in the loss. By comparison, Alberta went 8/16 from deep, making 44% of their total shots in the win. The Pandas were also excellent from the line, going 10/11 from the charity stripe on Saturday.Â
Annacy Palmer added 12 points for the Pandas, while Kiah Easton-Ihediohanma dropped nine thanks to three clutch three's in the second half.Â
Sabrine Khelifi led Laval with eight, being the only Rouge et Or starter with more than four points.Â
Alberta stormed ahead early in the first, spending all but 11 seconds with the lead on Saturday afternoon. Six made shots, four of which from beyond the arc, gave the Pandas an 18-9 lead through 10 minutes.Â
Six of Signatovich's 16 came in the second quarter, as Alberta extended their lead to 14 at the half. Laval mustered just two made shots on 17 attempts in the second quarter, recording just eight points.Â
Easton-Ihediohanma scored all nine of her points in the third quarter, hitting three clutch shots from deep. Her offensive spark off the bench all but ended Laval's hope's of a Consolation Final win, as they trailed by 25 after three.Â
Signatovich added four points and three rebounds in her final quarter, securing the Pandas win.Â
