Game Recap: Pandas Hockey |

Kieser’s third-period winner lifts Pandas past Spartans 2–1

Pandas sweep Spartans, improve to 6-6-4

EDMONTON - Fifth-year Panda Natalie Kieser potted the game-winner midway through the third period, securing a 2-1 win for Alberta and a series sweep over TWU.

2025 CW Goalie of the Year Grace Glover was sensational, stopping 27 of the 28 Spartans shots she faced, including ten in both the second and third periods, picking up her second win of the season.

Kieser delivered the decisive goal for Alberta, scoring the third-period winner and adding an assist on the Pandas first-period tally for a two-point night. Jadynn Morden recorded Alberta's opening goal on the power play, while Abby Soyko and Holly Magnus each contributed assists on the game-winner.

Trinity Western's offence was led by Sadie Isfeld, who scored the Spartans lone goal, assisted by Chloe Reid. Olivia Davidson made 19 saves in the loss.

Alberta improved to 6-6-4, while Trinity Western dropped to 8-7-1.

First Period

The Spartans struck first at 6:28, when Sadie Isfeld finished a feed from Chloe Reid, giving Trinity Western an early 1–0 lead. Alberta responded on the power play after Presleigh Giesbrecht was assessed a holding penalty. At 8:42, Jadynn Morden buried a setup from Natalie Kieser, tying the game 1–1.

The Pandas generated additional chances on a later power play at 12:58, but Davidson and the Spartans' penalty kill held strong. Alberta closed the period tied despite being outshot 9–8.

Second Period

A tight, defensive middle frame saw neither side break through. The Pandas successfully killed an early bodychecking minor to Raegan Yewdall, while Glover made key stops on Spartan rushes, particularly against Kyra McDonald and Jordyn Matthews.

Alberta pushed late in the period after a tripping call to Keelyn Pisani at 9:44, but their power play was unable to convert. The teams remained locked at 1–1 entering the final frame.

Third Period

Alberta controlled possession early but could not capitalize on consecutive power plays following penalties to Chloe Reid and Ashley Breitkreuz. The breakthrough finally came at 9:45. After extended zone pressure, Soyko fed Kieser in the slot, and she snapped a shot past Davidson, putting Alberta in front 2–1. Magnus earned the secondary assist on the winning play.

The Spartans pressed late, drawing a slashing call to Michela Naccarato that briefly slowed their momentum. Glover turned aside a flurry of chances in the final minute to preserve the victory.
