EDMONTON, AB - Trailing 3-2 midway through the third period, the Alberta Pandas scored three unanswered in the final 10 minutes, storming back to take a 5-3 win over the visiting TWU Spartans.
Raegan Yewdall delivered a standout performance for Alberta, scoring twice in the third period, including the game-tying and insurance markers, while finishing +2 on the night.
Abby Soyko added a goal and an assist, registering her sixth of the season, and
Holly Magnus produced a pair of assists during Alberta's three-goal surge.
Hailey Carothers opened the scoring for the Pandas, and
Annie King contributed a first-period power-play tally. Goaltender
Mackenzie Dojahn stopped 22 shots for the win, including nine in the first period alone.
Trinity Western was led by Ella Boon (one goal, one assist), Presleigh Giesbrecht, and Kara Yackel, who combined for the Spartans' three third-period goals.
Alberta established early control. At 4:49,
Hailey Carothers struck first, finishing a feed from
Janay Williams and
Taylor Breen. Less than two minutes later, with the Pandas on the power play following a roughing call to Chayce Kullman,
Annie King converted at 6:30, set up by
Natalie Kieser and Soyko to make it 2–0 Alberta.
The game erupted offensively in the final frame. Trinity Western cut the lead to 2–1 at 3:17 when Giesbrecht scored off a setup from Kyra McDonald and Boon. The Spartans equalized on the power play at 7:02, with Yackel beating Dojahn from close range.
Just 43 seconds later, Boon scored giving TWU a 3–2 lead at 7:45 off another feed from McDonald.
Alberta responded with a dominant push. Yewdall tied the game at 12:00, finishing a sequence orchestrated by
Leighanna Rizarri and Magnus. At 13:42, Soyko restored the lead, burying a shot set up by Magnus.
Yewdall sealed the win at 14:35, capitalizing on a rebound to extend Alberta's advantage to 5–3.
The Pandas closed out the final minutes with a strong defensive stand to secure the comeback victory.
