Pronghorns stage late comeback to top Pandas 22-19

Alberta finishes conference play with 3-2-1 record

LETHBRIDGE - In a clash that went down to the final whistle, Lethbridge secured a narrow 22-19 victory over Alberta on Friday at UofL Community Stadium, overturning a second-half deficit with a powerful late rally.

The game began with the Pandas establishing an early lead. At the 22-minute mark of the first half, Emilee Randolp successfully crossed the line, with Kiera Skrenek converting the try to put ALB up 7-0. Lethbridge responded just 10 minutes later when Jorja Salmon tallied a try at 32 minutes, though the conversion was unsuccessful, leaving the score 7-5 in favour of ALB heading into the break.

The second half saw Alberta extend their advantage. Shaely Moodie added an early try at 47 minutes, but the unsuccessful conversion kept the margin at seven points, 12-5. Lethbridge quickly countered with Jorja Salmon recording her second try of the game, tightening the gap to 12-10.

Another major score for the Pandas came at 64 minutes as Stella Henry Rodriguez scored, and Kiera Skrenek secured the conversion, making it 19-10 and seemingly putting the game out of reach.

However, Lethbridge mounted a superb comeback in the final ten minutes. At 68 minutes, Ashlee Izekor scored a crucial try, and Kayleigh Noel successfully slotted the conversion, pulling the Pronghorns within two points, 19-17. The comeback was completed at 72 minutes when Millie Teskey scored the final, go-ahead try. While the ensuing conversion was unsuccessful, the five points were enough to seal the victory for Lethbridge, 22-19.
