The Pronghorns kicked off their season in dominant fashion, defeating the Alberta Pandas 39-15 under the lights at the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium.

In a thrilling first leg of the Suggitt Cup series, named in honor of the late Ric Suggitt, the Pronghorns showcased both offensive firepower and solid defense. First-year standouts Millie Teskey and Zina Umeh led the charge with key tries, while Rebecca Powell added two of her own to help secure the victory. Alberta kept the game close in the first half, but Lethbridge pulled away after the break to claim the win.

First-year Pronghorn Millie Teskey scored the first points with a run up the sideline for the opening try. Alberta quickly answered with Emerson Hanrahan crossing the line for the Pandas.

In the 13th minute, Zina Umeh carried the ball downfield and handing it off to Tory Clements, who scored the try and converted her own kick. Shortly after, Emily Stewart set up Rebecca Powell for a corner try, extending the Pronghorns' lead.

A penalty goal from Alberta's Amber Robertson-Grafton reduced the score to 17-8. In the 38th minute, Bea Herrera scored a try for Alberta, followed by a successful convert by Kate Alcock, making it a close game at halftime.

Lethbridge came out strong in the second half, with Morgan Davidson blocking an Alberta kick to keep the ball in their zone. Both teams exchanged turnovers until the 57th minute when Zina Umeh scored a try for the Pronghorns.

Both teams exchanged turnovers until the 57th minute when Zina Umeh found a pocket to score a try for the Pronghorns. Rebecca Powell added another try, finding the corner to outrun Alberta's defense making it 27-15.

In the final moments, the Pronghorns forced a penalty and pushed one last time, with Jayda Morrison earning the final try to secure the win.
