EDMONTON - A free-kick goal for Saskatchewan Huskie Diego Reveco in the 81st minute nullified a sure Alberta Golden Bears win, as the two rivals scratched out a 1-1 draw on Sunday at Foote Field.Â
Dominating possession, shots, and scoring chances, Alberta seemed destined for three points in the standings.
Rilind Idrizi's marker in the 56th minute looked like the difference maker in a lopsided contest. However, Reveco showcased a touch of brilliance late, curling a gorgeous free kick around the Alberta wall from 20 yards out.Â
Saskatchewan didn't sniff the net for the first 70+ minutes, but were able to find some offence late in the second half, forcing an Alberta foul deep in their own territory, and capitalizing with the ensuing goal.Â
