EDMONTON - Eric Florchuk recorded three points, including scoring his fifth of the season, leading the Golden Bears to a 7-2 home win over Regina on Friday night at Clare Drake Arena.

12 Bears found their way on the scoresheet in a game in which Alberta outshot Regina 42-30. Josh Prokop, Adam Hall, Alex Thacker, and Jakin Smallwood also recorded multi-point performances, to go along with 28 saves from Matt Berlin. His sixth start of the season, Berlin now owns a 5-0-1 record in between the pipes for Alberta. 

Justin Hall, Adam Hall, Josh Paterson, and Daneel Lategan also scored for Alberta in the win, to go along with tallies from Florchuk, Prokop, and Thacker. 

The win moves Alberta (8-4-1) into fourth in Canada West, while Regina stays in seventh (3-8-2). 

Eric Houk and Jackson Doucet scored for Regina in the third period, with Curtis Meger making 35 saves in the loss, dropping his record to 0-2-0 this season. 

Alberta raced out to a 3-0 lead in the opening 20, with the Bears outshooting Regina 14-6 in the opening frame. Thacker added to the Alberta lead early in the second, beating Meger with a beauty on a breakaway for his second of the season. 

The Bears and Cougars exchanged goals in a back-and-forth third period, with the teams combining for 32 shots. 

The teams will meet again tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. at Clare Drake Arena.
