VICTORIA – A 38-point first half propelled the University of Victoria women's rugby team over the visiting University of Alberta, 62-0, Sept. 29 at Wallace Field.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half

• Getting the Vikes on the board in the fourth minute, Faith Tilley broke away from the oncoming defenders, touching the ball down while being tackled for the try. Alexie Pusch made her first convert of the night to put the Vikes ahead, 7-0.
• A quick set of passes out to Emerald Maze allowed her to find open space down the right line, making it downfield unscathed for the try. Pusch added two points on the convert for the 14-0 Vikes lead in the seventh minute.
• Slaying her way through the onslaught of Pandas defenders, Sierra Gillis reached the end zone to touch the ball down for try. A third-straight convert from Pusch made it 21-0 for UVic in the 12th minute.
• Back-to-back tries from Lucie Romeo in the 17th and 19th minutes via breakaways down the left side of the field pushed the Vikes' lead to 31-0.
• An intercept by Summer Blackmore allowed for a quick return to the end zone, allowing her to score a try in the 32nd minute. A Pusch convert gave the Vikes the 38-0 halftime lead. 

Second Half

• A pack push forward with Justine Blatt-Janmaat carrying the ball resulted in a Vikes try and 43-0 lead in the 44th minute.
• Madison Jumeau registered a try on the scoresheet after pushing her way through a wall of Alberta defenders. Adding two points on Pusch's convert, the Vikes went ahead, 50-0, in the 57th minute.
• Three minutes later, Chloe Hill Huse put a try on the board, putting the Vikes ahead 57-0 after a Pusch convert tacked on two more points.
• Rounding out the Vikes' scoring, Krissy Scurfield scored the try while being tackled to seal UVic's win, 62-0, in the 71st minute.
• With the win, the Vikes move to 3-1 on the season, while the Pandas fall to 1-3.
