EDMONTON – For the first time since their thrilling Hardy Cup Semifinal clash in November of 2019, the Golden Bears head to Saskatoon for a meeting against the Saskatchewan Huskies.Â
Both teams come in with matching 1-1 records through two weeks, with the Bears looking for a bounce back after a 31-17 home loss to Manitoba, while Saskatchewan routed UBC 43-15 in Vancouver.Â
Saturday afternoon's tilt will also be the Canada West Showcase game for Week 3, with the game being available on SaskTel max TV, maxTV stream in Saskatchewan, and on Telus in Alberta. The game will also be available on Canada West TV.Â

- The Bears and Huskies met in back-to-back weeks to close out the 2019 season, with the Huskies earning a 22-9 Week 8 win, followed by a 28-23 win in the Hardy Cup Semifinal. Both games took place at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon.Â
- The Huskies have won three of the last four meetings against Alberta, with the Bears last win coming on September 21, 2019. The last Alberta win in Saskatoon came on November 6, 2010 in the Hardy Cup semifinal, which was the Bears most recent playoff victory. Saskatchewan has won nine-straight meetings at home.Â
- Through two weeks, the Huskies are allowing 538 yards per game defensively, the highest total in U SPORTS. They are also one of three teams yet to have a defensive interception, along with UBC and Manitoba.Â

- All three of Alberta's quarterbacks have found the field through two weeks. 2019 CW All-Star Brad Launhardt has started and finished both games, with first-year Bears Luke Hornung and Zac Montgomery seeing playing time throughout each game.Â
- Bears linebacker Josiah Schakel ranks first in Canada West, and second in U SPORTS, with 8.3 tackles per game. Schakel finished second in Canada West in 2019 with 51 total tackles.
