LETHBRIDGE – In search of their first victory of the season, the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns would find themselves on the wrong end of a late penalty call, dropping a 2-1 decision to the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
Despite a fast start that would see the 'Horns score in the game's fifth minute, the Golden Bears would tie the game before halftime, and use a late penalty score to secure the victory.
With the loss, the Pronghorns drop to 0-6-1, while the Golden Bears improve to 3-0-3.
Despite struggling offensively this season, the 'Horns would find an early goal in the 5

The Golden Bears would have an excellent opportunity in the 14
th minute on a free kick. Third-year forward
Everett Orgnero would climb the ladder for a sharp header, only to be turned away by fifth-year keeper Nolan French.
Alberta would find the equalizer in the 39
th minute off a free kick set piece play. With the 'Horns unable to clear following the corner, the ball would find rookie defender
Armaan Nijjar who would head the ball in for his first career U SPORTS goal.
The Pronghorns would open the second half with two high-quality chances in the 50
th and 52
nd minutes but could not break the deadlock.
The 69
th minute would see a penalty be awarded to the Golden Bears following a 50-50 challenge between Ryan McMurtry and
Garry Onyejelem. Alberta would turn to fifth-year senior
Ajeej Sarkaria who would make no mistake to put his team back up by one, 2-1.
The Bears would hold on, securing a four-point weekend in Lethbridge after earning a point yesterday in a 1-1 draw.
The Pronghorns will travel to Edmonton next weekend to face the MacEwan University Griffins, while the Golden Bears will return to Foote Field to host the University of Calgary Dinos.
