Sport Performance Centre

Venue Map

The Sport Performance Centre (SPC) is located in the Saville Community Sports Centre on the University of Alberta’s South Campus. The facility is a 9000 square foot space outfitted with 12 olympic lifting platforms, 7 squat racks, a range of free weights, cable stacks and cardio equipment (powered treadmills, self-propelled curve treadmills, spin bikes and air bikes). The space also features a large activity area for speed and functional work.

The SPC provides year round strength and conditioning training opportunities to all Golden Bears and Pandas varsity athletes. The facility has been designed through consultation with the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation and Golden Bears and Pandas coaches. Each varsity team is able to access the SPC for team training times during the varsity season under the guidance of sport-specific strength and conditioning coaches who provide programming tailored to each individual athlete. In the summer months, the facility is open for both team and individual use for any varsity athletes on campus during their off-season. The SPC is a critical component in the overall training and development framework for Golden Bears and Pandas athletes that prepares them for success on the field of play.
