The Pandas Hockey team has partnered with the University of Alberta's 5 Days for Homeless initiative.
5 Days for the Homeless is a national campaign that started 15 years ago at University of Alberta with the goal of increasing public awareness and understanding around the issues of youth homelessness and trauma.
Usually during the 5 Days campaign, students would sleep outside of the Business Building for five days and five nights, to bring awareness to the issue that is youth homelessness while hosting events and attending classes.
This year, however, 5D4H will
host online events throughout the week, and are finding different ways to virtually volunteer with organizations to help youth in this demographic.
This year's online events include: Cooking classes (Red Seal Chef, Student Cooking),
Trivia Nights (Hockey Trivia Night Series with Bears & Pandas Athletics, and Homelessness Awareness Trivia Night), and a Panel on Homelessness.
All the donations raised will go towards Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS).
